soundproofing an infant's nursery
« on: February 04, 2001, 07:17:33 PM »
We have an already existing house, but need to insulate the walls to our infant's nursery.  Neither tearing down walls or hanging stuff on the existing walls is an option.  Of the four walls, one is exterior, one is against a shower and bath, one is against the guest room, and one is against the hallway.  Is there anything injectible into the wall space (via the attic) that would act as soundproofing, be non-toxic, and not have a problem being up against plumbing pipes?

A: Most any "blow in" insulation is pretty much useless for soundproofing, but if you must, try any product with cut wool fibers.  It seems to have some sound control qualities.
