Loss of space from ceiling
« on: October 10, 2003, 02:05:49 AM »
Hi

Can you tell me how much ceiling space I will lose if I apply the SSP clips  then drywall to my existing ceiling that is now just below 8 feet high ?

I own my co-op and am concerned about the resale value if my ceiling is low.

Thank you for your help and your website its very helpful !!

P.S.  I may call since I have alot more questions.

Cristine,

The SSP sound clips with the furring channels installed and a layer of 5/8" fire code drywall will take up only about 2 3/4" to 3" tops. I feel that  this the loss of ceiling is far out weighed by the amount of soundproofing these little puppies will provide you.
Cristine, remember, when it comes to soundprooofing, there is always compromise involved.
Thanks for the interesting post.
Sincerely,
