50 lb child on ceiling

my upstairs neighbours have a child that has learned to jump from chairs, i dont want to hear it .. i live in a victorian block with high ceilings .. i can lose 12inch (preferred) to max 18 inches of wall height..... but not too much cash ....  how should i go about it?

A: Dead air space is cheap and you have a lot of it.  Use the 18" and put in some soundproofing too as detailed in the link below:
