soundproofing a basement room
« on: November 13, 2003, 07:42:36 AM »
hi im trying to find ways to soundproof my bedroom from the rest of the house. i have a fairly large stereo and me and my dad are trying to find ways of sound proofing as the noise is driving everyone insane. i have sheetrock walls and a floating celing. ive read about the mass load vinyl and was wondering if that might be a good way to go and if so would i put that above the celing as well as on my walls?

also where can i find MLV?

Kyle,

I apologize for the delay in answering your post, but it has been very busy here @ The Super Soundproofing Co.
The (MLV) can be purchased directly from us as well as the caulk and and other soundproofing agents.
If there are people living upstairs of  the bedroom, you will surely need to do the (MLV) on the ceiling as well, but if there is just attic space up there, then an extra layer of 5/8" drywall will do the trick. Kyle, once again I apologize for the delay in answering your post.

Sincerely,
