SOUNDPROOFING ROOM IN BASEMENT
« on: November 24, 2003, 12:59:05 AM »
I need a practice space for evening/night-time solo piano and rehearsal with sax, bass drums and guitar jazz group. There is a 12 by 17 foot unfinished portion of the basement which is under a rarely used living room. One wall is foundation, the floor is slab. One wall is the finished area on the other side with a door, and the last wall enters into a smaller unfinished area through a door.

I am not interested in recording or necessarily keeping sound from entering. I am interested in preventing sound from leaving, especially through the ceiling as no one lives in the basement.

I need a contractor or someone experienced in soundproofing to help design and build this. I live in Western Massachusetts on the NY, MA, CT border.

Thanks for any help you can offer me. I really enjoyed reading various pointers on your site and would be happy to purchase through you or through your East Coast distributor.

Sincerely,

Joe Gold
