Question about soundproofing my basement
« on: January 07, 2004, 01:35:02 AM »
Hello. I have a quick question about soundproofing my basement. Maybe someone can give me some advice.

For starters the basement is the original basement from when the house was built, and that was almost 80 years ago. It's nothing but concrete walls, wooden beams going across the ceiling and tons of low pipes and conduits and a concrete floor.

Here is my goal: I play in a rock band and I want to rehearse down in this basement, and I want it to be as sounproof as possible. I obvioulsy do not want to invest crazy amounts of money only because of what I'm dealing with here.

I want to use what resources I have and make the best of it. What can I put down on the concrete floor? What can I use on the bare, concrete walls, and what can I use to hold it up? (glue, nails?) What can I use to put up in the wooden beams on the ceiling?

Thanks for your help!
