Shed to Rehersal Space
« on: February 03, 2004, 05:12:18 AM »
I have to make the best of a bad situation with respect to building a rehersal space for my band. I have a tin shed which measures 4m x 6m x 2.2m (12" x 18" x 7").

I am planning to line the inside of the shed with 6mm board (walls & roof) fixed approximatley 4'  from the wall using studs.

Then fix a 3 inch composite foam (the type which has (1.5inches acoustic foam / loaded vinyl barrier / 1.5inches acoustic foam) to the board.

Then have another 2 inch gap then another 6mm board then "eggshell" type acoustic foam.

this setup will be on all walls/ ceiling & door, there are no windows in the shed.

sorry if this makes no sense, it's hard to explain this with no pictures.

broken down the walls & ceiling would have:

(Tinshed wall / 4inch gap / 6mm board / 3inch composite type foam / 2 inch gap / 6mm board / "eggshell type acoustic foam)

The floor will be wooden, but carpeted and with thick underlay.

do you think this setup will block out much noise? and also what do you think it will sound like inside the shed???
