Basement Apartment

Hi, I'm currrently living in a basement apartment, and I work nights.  The problem is that if I want to sleep in the day, the upstairs tenants make noise that wakes and keeps me up.  I hate earplugs, so I was wondering if anyone has any soundproofing suggestions?  P.S:  I would prefer a low cost suggestion, this is not my permanent residence.  Thank you.  (Do egg cartons work)

Leom,

There are many things you can do to soundproof a basement apartment. A lot depends on just what sounds you are trying to block. If it is Impact noise (walking noise) then the most effective thing you can do is float the ceiling using either resilient channels or the Iso max sound clips. This procedure would take a while to explain on this forum, so please feel free to give me a call toll free and we can discuss your situation in depth.
Leom, there are inexpensive solutions to this problem
Thanks for the post.
