Sound proofing NYC apt for music lessons
« on: August 08, 2004, 06:15:04 AM »
I am moving into a new apt where I will be teaching piano and voice lessons and do not want to bother my neighbors. I cannot do anything structurally to the walls or ceiling (like taking down a wall and/or building a wall) possibly a drop ceiling would be ok but would rather not (as that involves some installing of the grid). I will have one neighbor above me and one on either side of me but no neighbor below me. Is there anything I can attach to the ceiling and walls that would not harm the walls and would look nice? Would thick curtains work? How much sound do they absorb? Any help would be great! Thanks.
