What to put on  a concrete floor?
« on: August 17, 2004, 08:23:25 PM »

I am attempting to setup my recording studio on a budget.  Does a control room or recording space need to have sound proofing on the floor ( single story space) OR just acoustical treatments?  Should I go with wood  flooring or will just sealing and painting the concrete be enough?(short term solution).  Is there a cheaper alternative ( other than carpet)?

Hello Lambert,

Concrete is a good soundproofing material.  Please, do not spoil it by adding wood on top.  Most likely you do not need soundproofing on the floor.  The carpet would be nice for a little sound conditioning as would pyramid panels or wedges of acoustical foam on the walls.

Thank you for your question,
