soundproofing storage room

hi i have a band i practice with in a storage room. however, there is no dry wall in there and there are pipes running along some of the studs. what is the cheapest way to effectively sound proof this room. im kinda short on cash, so i need to find the cheapest way to do this. what supplies would i need to buy and how would i mount this since there are pipes on the studs. how effective would this be and how much will it cost. please answer promptly, thanks -philip

Phil,

A couple of layers of common rolled roofing would help, you'd staple ot over the studs and then finally layer over that with a layer of 5/8" fire code drywall. That should  give you some fair soundproofing, but not to the degree of Mass Loaded Vinyl and soundclips, but now we're talking some cash outlay. Hope this helps Phil.
