Katrina victim..wanting to sound proof one wall
« on: February 03, 2006, 06:57:12 PM »

I have all the sheetrock removed from my master bedroom. I have an oppertunity here to install some soundproofing before i install insulation and hand new sheet rock.

I really only need to soundproof ONE wall......its the wall that faces my backyard, then a townhouse...then a busy street....ALSO right outside this wall is my A/C unit, which I hear click on and off through out the night.....I want to blovk the sound of the cars from the street mentioned above and also the a/c unit...those are my two reasons for wanting to soundproof

can anyone suggest what would be good for my situation and possibly the procedure for installing?? (i.e. do i put soundproofing material in before i install wall insulation or after I install wall insulation; how do I adhere sound proof material between the 2 x 4 studs??..caulk??..nail???...staple???)

Any help will be appreciated!

Thank you
