new condo gypcrete floor
« on: November 09, 2004, 07:51:07 PM »
I recently bought a new condo and will be moving in soon.  I have a strong 6 speaker home theatre and I am afraid I might disturb the neighbors below.  The condo is suppose to have a Gypcrete material in between floors to control the sound.  Is anyone familiar with Gypcrete?  Should it be enough to prevent the transmission of bass from my home theatre?

unfortunately, Gypcrete is not the best at sound deadening at all...it also called 'cretelight'...it is SOFT- you can actualy break it up and dig into it with just a metal spoon...I had the same material in my last condo and could hear everything!!
