boiler room noise
« on: January 12, 2005, 04:51:22 PM »
The boiler room in my condo building abuts my bedroom.  The noise from the newly installed water circulation pumps sends a constant aggravating humm through a cinderblock wall and drywall.  I was told any noise reduction material would have to be installed on my side of the wall. Any suggestions would help.

Hello Stephen.
The boiler room problem sounds annoying. Which room is the hum or noise most aggravating. Is the noise vibrational?
You can apply sound absorbing and sound barrier material to your walls. These materials will abate most of your airborn noise. Do you have windows in the area. If so, consider using acoustical curtains, vinyl curtain or other noise blocking or absorbing curtains. You may also use a window plug made of absorbent mat.
And if you are feeling vibration, consider using vibration pads to lift a bed, a chair, an entertainment center off the floor or away from the wall.

Thanks for your question!

Sincerly,
