I want to build a soundproof sliding wall, like a pocket door, but bigger. The wall will roll on rubber wheels. How can I soundproof the space that will exist between the wall and the ceiling and the wall and the floor?

Dave, this has been tried before without good results.  The problem is the space where the door retracts into-  It just can't be soundproofed very well.  The door itself usually must be quite thin to go inside the wall- again not good.

Some have had some success with a double sliding door system, that is, one door on one side of the wall and another on the other.

This woks pretty well for existing patio doors.

Have a look at "Movable Partitions" for some good ideas along these lines.
