Quieting hollow core doors
« on: October 08, 2005, 03:31:43 PM »
We live in a townhouse with hollowcore doors. When these doors are closed it sounds like they are being slammed even though they're being closed normally. Even when they are opened it's loud. In order to quiet  any closing or opening you have to pay close attention to how you do either of these (ease the door closed and/or turn the knob prior to either closing or opening). It's bad enough that it wakes anyone sleeping. Is there any a way to fix this?

id like to rebuild my hollow doors as i cant afford solid ones now...(i just bought the house), and the paneling is loose on the inside..
the doors have a fancy wood like finish so they look good, just sound terrible!

ill post somethin here if i find anything on soundproofing
