we are leading roofing sheet industry in Sri Lanka. Recently we got 500KVA & 1150KVA generators for our production requirements. But we have a serious problem regarding the sound proofing of those generator rooms.

Since if u have any cheeper recomended method of construction sound proofing rooms or sound proofing materials which are using above situation, pls inform as quickly as possible.

Thank U.

For your generator rooms the recommended material is a closed cell vinyl nitrile foam.  This material is available in thickness of 1/8" to 2" - the thicker the better.  It is one of the few materials that has both an NRC (noise reduction coefficient) AND and STC (sound transmission class) rating.  In other words it both absorbs and blocks sound in a contained space.  Unfortunately it is not cheep.  It is, however, very effective and economical in the long run.

Respectfully,
Joel
