Roofing paper for floor?
« on: December 29, 2005, 06:41:23 PM »

I am redoing my basement for a rehearsal space. I don't have enough head room to treat the ceilings as I would like and was curious what I could do to the upstaris floors to help with sound containment. I was thinking of putting down either MLV or roofing paper but was looking for feedback on either method. I could really only afford to but insulation and one layer of sheetrock on the ceiling in the basement but need to recarpet the upstairs of the house anyways.

You would get the most "bang for your buck" with MLV and it's only 1/8" thick...
