Soundproofing child's bedroom

My 1 year old's bedroom is directly above my kitchen.  The house was built in the 1950's and seems to have very little sound barrier.  You can hear everything going on everywhere, especially kitchen noise (doing dishes, etc...).  I was wondering if a foam or matting exists that could be placed under her wall-to-wall carpet [remnant that can be easily lifted up] to at least help reduce kitchen noise in her room.

You can use MLV w/ Closed cell foam under the carpet and padding.
