Soundproofing the common wall in a duplex
« on: February 14, 2006, 01:47:02 PM »
I live in a duplex where we often jam out with drums and guitar. We've been living  and jamming here for about six months and the neighbors don't seem to mind. BUT I would like to make it quieter for them and possibly turn up the volume over here. SO I bought 4 inch pyramid foam and have started to cover the upstairs common wall with it. We are also going to put some in the room with the drums. Does this sound like it will work? If so how much do you think it will help? Thanks.

No, it won't work because it's an open cell foam for sound aborbsion, not sound blocking.  Sound will blow right through it.  (but it will deaden it).
