roof fan vibration

My husband and I recently purchased a coop in Park Slope, Brooklyn on the top floor of a 12 story building.  We noticed that the ceiling and one wall vibrates, causing a hum in the living room and dining room.  We are fairly sure this is caused by the exhaust fan on the roof.  In case the building doesn't fix it, we are exploring ideas such as dropping the ceiling in the dining room and adding sheetrock to the one wall.  Will this work or are there better ideas?
