Duct work

I have a duct running into a second story bedroom that makes a slight popping sound after the furnace shuts off.  It sounds as though it is from expansion and contraction of the metal.
What is the best strategy for dealing with this?  Is there a solution that will not require opening up the sub-floor?  Also, what is the soundproofing liquid sold here and how is it used?
