Author Topic: Downstairs Neighbor with Plasma TV  (Read 1270 times)

So, my downstairs neigbors decide to buy a big plasma TV and bolt the thing to the wall.  I've never had big noise complaints before- but now there is a constant, very irritating, speaking tone reverberating through the wall.

Anyone have any experience dealing with this?  Is there a soundproofing solution without tearing the wall down?

The easiest thing to do is to get your neighbors to mount the TV on some kind of resilient mount or plate.  A small piece of 1/4" mass-loaded vinyl between wall and the mount and under the washers of the lag bolts might help a bit.

There may be some kind of product out there, but I have never had the need for anything like it.  I know those swing arms for flat-screen TV's might provide some attenuation, but they cost hundreds of dollars.
