Optimum soundproofing frequency

hey guys ive got a physics assignment where i have to test the soundproofing efficiency of different materials. now im ok with this but what i need to know is what is the best frequency/amplitude/wavelength to test my materials with. i have a hollow wooden cube and i am covering the walls with whichever material i am currently testing. i have a signal generator program to give me a constant set-up so all i need is what to sset it to

If you want to be "professional" about it, you need to test each material at a range of frequencies, from 125 Hz to 4000 Hz.  Different  materials (and partition masses) will give you varying transmission losses/noise reduction at different frequencies.

STC is usually tested at these frequencies (in Hz):

125, 160, 200, 250, 315, 400, 500, 630, 800, 1000, 1250, 1600, 2000, 2500, 3150, 4000

 

anything
