Onboard generator
« on: October 07, 2006, 03:12:00 PM »
I have a motorhome with a built in generator that is somewhat noisy on the outside. A lot of the noise travels under the camper to the "occupied" side. I would like to contain the engine noise from the generator to the backside of the camper where the exhaust exits. Would some sort of foam lined box with one open side direct most of the noise away?

Many people have had success in using a Closed Cell Foam material that absorbs sound. You would line the box area that holds the generator.

You will have to leave some holes for air to transfer regarding the running of the generator.

A thickness of 3/4", 1" or 2" is recommended for lining the box.

Take a look at:/http://www.soundproofing.org/sales/prices.html.
