building generator inclosure

Hi
I have a generator that is rated at 68db. I would like to make it
quieter. I have a metal box that it will fit in and would like to know what
products you think would work best to make it quieter. I think that i will
have about an 1.5 inches of room on the sides and about that on the ends.
There is only going to be about an 1.25 inches on top and bottom. I am going
to use a fan to keep the generator cool. The box opens from the top so i can
start and stop the generator.

PS I have gone to an amry surplus store and got some perforated aluminum
panels with fiberglass insulation that is about 1/2 inch thick out of an old
amry generator

GSI30:

We suggest that you use a Closed Cell Foam that is 1 inch thick with an adhesive backing.

This approach has been very successful in reducing sound from generators.  Line the entire inside of the metal box with this material.

Take a look at://http://www.soundproofing.org/sales/prices.html.
