Drywalling my garage
« on: February 21, 2007, 09:59:06 PM »
Hi,

Since my wife and I are expecting a child in July, my DJ equipment is getting kicked out into the garage.  My plan is to drywall and possibly insulate the walls but I am a bit concerned about moisture coming into the garage. Should I be using a certain thickness of drywall and a certain type of insulation?  I'd appreciate anyone's help on this.

Moisture?  Do you mean humidity or flooding?  If you're concerned, use greenboard, the moisture-resistant drywall used in bathrooms.  Although expensive, it comes in 5/8" thickness.

As for insulation, fiberglass or mineral wool.  Cotton or cellulose will rot with heavy moisture, despite manufacturers claims.
