Quiet glue + plywood?
« on: March 27, 2007, 08:31:45 PM »
Has anyone use quiet glue? how is it compared to green glue? I want to use it between my exisiting subfloor and 1/4" plywood, then foam pad and lamniated floor on top. Do you think that will be a good insulation from the airborn noise from floor below? Thanks.

The composition of "Quiet Glue" which has been around for quite awhile and never been very popular,  is considerably thinner than "Green Glue" - a more recent development.  Green Glue seems to be considerably more effective than the other product.

Because of this we handle Green Glue- see http://soundproofing.org/sales/GreenGlue.htm

Regarding your proposal to use it between anothe rsubfloor of plywood- I wouldn't recoomend it.  Wood transmits sound 1200 times better than air.  This is not a place to use Green Glue.

See http://www.soundproofing.org/infopages/flooring.htm
for better options.
