Soundproofing Xbox 360?
« on: August 15, 2007, 07:46:31 AM »
The Xbox 360 is pretty loud when the DVD drive is running, mostly the combination of the powerful computer fans inside and the drive motor itself. What would be a good solution to reduce this sound? Would supporting it on 4 soft isolation pads work? Or would an MLV mat work even better? Thanks in advance!

Check to see if the Xbox has rubber pads on the bottom.  If so, you're probably dealing with airborne noise (transmitted through the thin plastic) rather than vibration-induced noise.

If so, you need some kind of enclosure to put it in.
