Finishing last side of music studio/jam room
« on: August 15, 2007, 04:45:09 PM »
I have a garage where 3 sides are concrete walls, so that should sound insolate enough.  I will have to build a double-wall on the side facing the garage door that now has nothing.  Is what I read in acoutics101.com the best way to go? One thing that's different is my floor is cement too, so I was just going to go with the rubber flooring they sell at Lowe's for that.

Any knowledge would be appreciated!

Sounds like a good plan.  Remember to seal the wall good, insulate it and use at least 2 layers of 5/8" drywall.

And be sure to use Green Glue between the two layers of finish dry wall.  You want to 'kill' as much bass frequency sound vibration at the initial surface the sound wave hits.  Green Glue is a damping compound that will do just that.  Use the maximum three tubes/4x8 sheet.
