Question about floor construction over concrete???
« on: October 12, 2007, 03:33:11 PM »
Need some help figuring out the best way to soundproof my new studio. The room will be for recording and low freq absorption is the biggest consideration. Here are some specifics. The room is an addition on the back of my house. Half of the room was built over the carport concrete footings and the other half on a patio slab. I've already decided on double studding with the inside wall stagger studded. I am going to use acoustical tape on studs between drywall and double drywalling the inside wall with green glue. I will also be using 90lb rolled roofing in wall cavities as a cheap MLV (doubling up on it and using acoustical tape and caulking the hell out of everything). Here's where I need help...

How should I construct the ceiling and floor?

I believe that taking out the existing floor and using the concrete floor would be beneficial but i'm not sure.

Thanks!

PS.
Budget is a big concern!
