need help soundproofing appartment
« on: January 03, 2008, 11:17:38 PM »
Here's my situation,  i play drums and i am in a band.  We practice at my current residence because no one lives below us and only one person lives on the lowest floor.  with the windows closed we have had no complaints.  However i am moving out in the summer and doubt i'll be so lucky to keep my current situation in another appartment.  so what i need is to make it so little to no noise from my appartment escapes to annoy my fellow tennants so i can still practice with my band.  any suggestions/help would be appreciated.  i know my post is very vague because i don't know where i'll be living this summer but i was hoping i could get some help with some normal practices to keep sound in a space to not disturb others.  again thanks for all the help!

You can try portable panels with the thickest closed cell vinyl nitrile foam you can afford.  Here's a link to soundproofing kits (see the paragraph on "Portable Panels"): http://www.soundproofing.org/infopages/kits.htm
And another option is a DIY sound booth (rather small but easy to do) shown at this link: http://www.soundproofing.org/infopages/portable_sound_control_room.htm
