How much Green Glue 2 or 3 tubes?
« on: March 11, 2008, 03:32:41 PM »
Anybody know if there is a big improvement between using 2 or 3 tubes of Green Glue for 4x8 sheetrock.
I'm just wondering if the extra tube justifies the cost.  Tx

I would say its a waste of money as there is only a slight difference.
A better way to do it would be to use 2 GG layers at 2 tubes per sheet.
What I did was insert a thin stiff material like 5 mm plywood in between the 2 main heavy layers and used 2 tubes each side on one project that I did so thats 4 tubes in total. But still gives better damping than one layer or a thick layer oof GG. :)

Using 3 tubes of Green Glue per 4x8 sheet gives you 20% better results.  And using multiple layers of Green Glue and dry wall gives even better results.  These figures have been proven both in the lab and in the field.
