Soundproofing utility closet
« on: May 12, 2008, 02:50:30 PM »
We have a utility closet e adjacent to our main living area. It is hidden behind a wooden panel with doors that open )but are invisible from the living area). I was thinking of putting some soundproofing material on the inside of these doors as they are opposite from th A/C coil, which makes a good bit of noise. Any recommendations?

Erik.

Erik,
With the wooden panel doors I recommend MLV with closed cell foam adhered to the panel.
Followed by a Transom seal at the bottom along with seal tape at the door jam.
Here is a link for you to review.

Also it wouldnt hurt to put closed cell foam on the walls to help reduce noise within the room.
