Soundproof Room for singing

Hey guys,

I want to soundproof a room for singing. With so many people in the house, I find it extremely uncomfortable singing, and tend to suppress my voice. As most of the people here, I want a relatively inexpensive solution, and one that will block out the sound to the extent that people in other rooms can only hear a murmur, and can't really make out the sound. I want to soundproof my study room, which has dimensions of 3.6m by 3.6m. It is adjacent to the garage and the living room. The floor upstairs is wooden, so the sound seems to pass easily through the ceiling. I also need to soundproof the window, the door, and the remaining walls.

Could anyone please suggest a solution to my problem? What materials would you reccommend, and how can I go about putting in place these materials?

Since this is for vocals and your looking for an inexpensive solution then I would suggest making your own vocal booth. It would be far cheaper than soundproofing the whole room and its portable.
