Sound proofing french doors! (door with windows)
« on: April 11, 2009, 03:36:13 PM »

I currently live at school with 4 of my friends in a college apartment.  Unfortunately my room is right next to the living room and is enclosed by french doors.  These are made of thin wood and have about 8 thin glass windows in each door.  When the doors are closed you can still hear everyone talking, and still hear the TV if its on medium-low volume?

I'm just wondering what the cheapest/best solution is to solve this problem.  Thanks in advance.

Replace the doors... Use solid core doors, then follow up by using a transom seal and seal tape around the door stop.

A Soundproof Window is a second window placed behind your existing window that opens and closes just like your current one - there is no need to remove or replace your window to eliminate noise problems! Acoustically engineered to act as a sound barrier, Soundproof Windows offer most of the benefits of dual paned replacement windows and several benefits not available with replacement windows.
