"radio" noise without the radio
« on: December 31, 2008, 06:59:29 AM »
Help!! I am hearing music that seems to be coming through a common wall, but no one in any unit is playing a stereo or radio. It is driving my neighbor and I both nuts. It is almost always heard late at night--all night. I have various sound issues in this place--(two story townhome--one of eight 4 by 4 units) but this is the most pressing at the moment. We mostly hear the bass and just loud enough to keep us awake.

At one point I thought it was a cable or phone line transmitting a radio signal though the metal in the party wall as we had a brief respite from the sound when the cable guy came out to adjust the cable ground, but it is back. Ever heard of anything like it???

Thanks!

Havent heard anything like that before...the cable might be a path of transmission but the structure itself would yield the greatest output.....
From the way you are describing the situation my first thought would be that you are experiencing low frequency bass waves from somewhere in the neighborhood since nobody in the 4-plex is playing music and you mostly hear bass and low frequency waves can travel great distances.
