Soundproofing engineered joists
« on: February 17, 2009, 05:39:30 AM »
I am currently putting asuite into an unfinised basement of a relatively new house with engineered TGI joists on 19.2" centers.  I would like to do some sound control in the floor and have been considering donna conna with resilient channel before drywall.   I would like to insulate between the two but due to the spacing of joists the only insulation I can find at 19" is fibreglass and not mineral based.  Would putting in fibreglass insulation be worth the cost if no mineral based insulation is available?  I am living upstairs so I am more concerned with noise radiating upstairs.  Any suggestions would be appreciated thank you,
