Hi,

This is going to sound completely insane but its a question for the pros.

I am an Olympic weightlifter living in San Francisco. I am on the second floor of a rented apartment which is in an old Victorian with hardwood floors.

I am currently building a platform to lift from these plans...
http://weightliftingexchange.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=361&Itemid=60

It’s essentially an 8x6 platform area with two lanes, the center is where I pull from and the lanes are where the weight drops onto.

Understandably I am not fortunate enough to have a cement floor to lift from so I am trying to compensate as much as possible for the noise, echo, reverberation basically everything and anything that could make a sound.

What I have done so far is created a strata with the following materials...
The base...
4” of Bounce Back Rubber Tiles (these are for kids playgrounds and can support a 9'-10' Fall Height from a child)
http://www.matsmatsmats.com/kids/rubber-tiles-bounce-back.html
The middle...
4” of cross link filled foam gymnastic mats 2x2x6 folded to fit on top of the rubber tiles
The top...
3/4” Rubber mat 2x6 on top of the crosslink mat to give everything an even and flat plane which is mandatory to pull from.

So I have about 9” worth of padding.

I was wondering if in your expertise or experience could suggest what else I might need? I was thinking about the mass loaded vinyl and or a foam mat to cover the entire area of the platform (so the whole thing would sit on top of it). I was also considering the vibration pads if I could get them in a large enough size.

If you can offer me any advice I would appreciate it, I totally know this is out of the ordinary but I really want to build this as well as I possibly can.

Thanks!

Anyone? I know this is a pretty strange scenario but I would really appreciate some advice or suggestions.

Ok your asking a very difficult question, due to floor not being concrete I am very uncertain of any results!
However, I have a new system designed for holding 8" concrete floating floor. You would be the first to use it in this type of application....and even then Im still unsure!!!!  Give me a call so we can discuss pros and cons
