Sound proof strip for a door?
« on: September 24, 2009, 05:34:59 PM »

I have a balcony door that opens in to the room.  When I put my ear up to the door where the doorside with the hinges and the wall meets (gap between door and trim) I can 'hear' the outside.  Since the door opens inward, I was thinking that some kind of 'strip' mounted on the outside trim that overlaps the door when the door is closed would help 'seal' this gap.  Thoughts?

What about just putting a strip of V-strip or adhesive backed foam/tape on side of door so that is it pressed to existing weather stripping?  I think this would help.

Yes, you want to seal around the entire perimeter of the door.
