Looking at putting some more insulation over blown insulation in my attic in an effort to reduce sound somewhat.

It won't work any better than fiberglass.  You'll pay a lot more for the hype, of course...

You can get a 40 sq. ft. roll of R-13 fiberglass for about 9 bucks.  And you can pick it up at your local home center - no waiting.  Stick with the simple solution..

Thanks.  I can get Pro Pink R-30 unfaced insulation at Home Depot for $9.37 a roll..but do you really think it would even provide any additional sound insulation in the attic if I put it over the existing blown insulation.

It would help.  It would also help your energy bills.

What noise are you trying to block, specifically?
