Hi! I am looking for ways to soundproof the upstairs guest room in my apartment. Sounds are coming up from the other unit below this room.

The duplex was originally a one-family 1860's home.  This whole upstairs already has wall-to-wall carpeting.

As my brother is the owner of the house, it would be possible to work from below, ie through the ceiling, as well as through the floor. Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

Also, do you know of any contractors in Vermont who work with your products?  Thank you.

Soundproofing from the source is the best reduction and if your not worried about impact/footfall then you can add MLV w/psa directly to the existing drywall followed by 5/8" drywall with green glue sandwiched in between.

or if you want, you can add an underlayment below the carpet and padding upstairs. This would be our MLV w/ closed cell foam undrlayment.
