comparison of methods for carpeted floor soundproofing

I am looking into soundproofing underneath my carpeted floors. I can hear the downstairs neighbor  talking on the phone and they hear me as well. They also experience a lot of impact noise from my walking around. I see that this forum endorses MLV with closed cell foam on top of the subfloor with rebond carpet pad and carpet on top. A competitor soundproofing company endorses use of very dense/heavy rubber padding on the subfloor with carpet pad and carpet on top of that. How can I determine which will work better?

Heavy rubber padding only addresses impact/footfall it does not address airborne sound issues.

So the heavy mass of the rubber (close to 3 lbs/square foot) does not block airborne noise? They told me that airborne noise can be clocked by either mass or decoupling. Is there any objective information about there that addresses this point?
