Impact noise from upstairs, quesiton about GG
« on: January 20, 2010, 04:46:49 PM »
I just moved into a brand new condo. Construction is still taking place in a couple units.

I can hear pretty much every footstep from the completed unit above me. I've been reading these forums and saw that Green Glue is an effective tool to combat impact noise. I don't want to rip up ceilings, I don't want to do anything complicated. What are my options when it comes to Green Glue?

Thanks!

Green glue is a "Band-aid" option. If you choose to do it this way then I would suggest that you do 2 layers of 5/8" drywall and 2 layers of Green Glue at a 3 tube per 4' x 8' sheet.

The correct way to reduce the footfall / impact problem would be to decouple from the structure with clips and channel.
