Sound from an electrical power plant
« on: June 19, 2001, 04:09:48 PM »
We like about a mile from an electrical power generation facility.
On certain days we hear a lot of noise from the power plant.  This noise is
in the 149hz range.  Any ideas on what we could do, short of moving to mitigate
the sound.
Our house was originally built with Masonite siding and we have had
2 inch styrofoam insulation put on top of that with vinyl siding over that
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Such siding probably has little or no sound blocking qualities and may even be amplifying the sound at that frequency.  I'd suggest residing the house and installing some insulation with acoustical qualities...
