cheap soundproofing of home theatre

I have access to several sheets of some masonite board with holes in it. Is this  good sound proffing material. Do i have to put any insulation behind it. How far must it be from the concrete walls

Acoustical experts will tell you that perforations help in sound control, because they allow some sound to be not trapped and helps break up the wave front.  This may be true in the laboratory, but I haven't observed it and haven't talked with anyone who would verify this.
Masonite has some acoustical qualities as a barrier, but is relatively cheap- nothing to get excited about....
