Installed the MagnaSeal window
« on: April 12, 2012, 12:21:57 PM »

I installed the MagnaSeal window with 1/4 inch plexiglass and it's flush with the wall. I'm not getting as much sound reduction as I was hoping as I still hear a lot of the heavy machinery outside.
As I'm viewing the L bracket I do notice about maybe less than 1/8 inch gap between the wall and bracket. Would sealing this make a noticeable difference?

absolutely !! go down to home depot and buy a small tube of tube and tile caulk and caulk up all gaps from L-Frame to window box.

How much of an air space did you end up having between the two panels?

Thanks Randy. I used some Mortite http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=mortite&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=1576893041184146815&sa=X&ei=9SuIT7mkLpCC8QTOzYnsCQ&ved=0CFMQ8gIwAg# Weatherstrip and Caulking Cord but I don't think the seal is tight enough. Today I'll go to Home Depot for some tile caulk, would clear silicone work as well?

The distance between the window and plexiglass is greater than 2.5 inches.

2.5" air gap is great! and yes you can use silicone, you only need a small amount.

I installed the MagnaSeal window with 1/4 inch plexiglass

G'day,

I was wondering what the finished results were as I'll be doing my bedroom windows in the coming weeks.

Cheers
