I need help with the neighbors bass coming from below!!!
« on: March 07, 2011, 03:20:09 AM »
I am looking for an undelayment in my condo that will help mitigate the obnoxious bass that comes from my ungodly neighbor living below. I would want to place it throughout the entire condo. Can you recommend a underlay material that can be placed beneath engineered wood as well as carpeting?

The engineered wood is in the living area and this is where the majority of the bass is coming from. In the master bedroom is where the bass comes from sometimes and we have carpeting in there.

I have tried talking to her about her annoying thumping but she never listens and I've had to go as far as calling the police as well as her landlord but nothing seems to get through to her!  :'(

Any help or suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Well this is a serious situation because having to treat it from the receiving end is going to put you behind the power curse for achieving quality results. The ideal situation would be sound proofing her ceiling.
For under carpet and padding you can use our MLV w/closed cell foam.

And if your wood floor is glue down you can add 1/4" MLV glued to the floor followed by your finish flooring.

Either way you need to understand that the flank value and the fact you are soundproofing from the wrong side you are NOT going to achieve 50% reductions!
There might be a way to achieve a higher value but you would need to forfeit 2 5/8" from walls and raise the floor an additional 1 5/8" . This would be a MAJOR remodel project.
For this method you should contact me directly.
