Sound absorbing privacy fence for backyard
« on: April 08, 2011, 02:01:13 AM »
My backyard backs up to townhouses while mine is a single family house on about 1/4 acre, 100' x 100'. I have about 45 ft between the back of my house and the property line. From there- an additional 15 ft or so to the back of the townhouses. There is already some shrubbery there but in the wintertime it thins out, it's also about 8 ft high or so. The shubbery does zero to block sound so if someone's talking they might as well be right there. Being in between 2 parallel structures doesn't help.

Trees and such do not reduce noise as much as people think, very very little if any. You will need a wall at least 8'-10' at the property line. This will give you some reduction but dont count on it being a huge reduction because if the townhouses are two story then the second reflection will go over the wall. You will at least gain a better value then you have now.
