is brick more soundproof then wood?

Is brick more soundproof then wood? I live in a 2 story apartment complex on the top floor. all the bottom apartments are brick and the top are mostly wood including my apartment. Is the bottom floor going to be more sound proof then the top floor since it is brick?

I may move into a bottom apartment since there are available bottom apartments in my apartment complex. I care more about privacy then I do noise since I susspect for reasons I wont explain that my privacy is being invaded and that people can hear what I am doing outside my apartment(front and back) like talking on the phone, taking a shower, cooking, turning pages when reading my books, walking around in my apartment, ect...

Yes the brick is better for reducing Airborne sound, however it is not so good when it comes to LF and vibration. See if they will let you spend the night in a new unit before you move in and keep in mind that in an empty apartment sound will stay longer then it would when full of furniture etc.

thankyou for the reply, one more thing. I assume a brick apartment is going to be hotter during the summer and hot days, is that true? and also is a cell phone going to have a more improved connection inside a brick apartment then a wood apartment?
